Moira Purver -

WOMAN Study and Sculpture

In 2017 I was thrilled to be asked to produce a sculpture to support the promotion of the results of the WOMAN study.  What was wanted was a positive image of a mother and baby in the first few minutes after birth, to show the strength of the bond and to emphasise the importance of keeping mothers alive to be with and nurture their babies.  The aim is that the bronzes will be ready for display in time for the anniversary of the publishing of the report (published in The Lancet in April 2017).
WOMAN as a bronze sculpture was officially unveiled at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on 8th March 2018 - to coincide with International Women's Day.
It can also be seen at present at Gallery at 41 in Corfe Castle and will be on display in my Open Studio during this year's Purbeck Art Weeks and Dorset Art Weeks (26th May to 10th June)

There is also a Facebook page showing the progress of the sculpture
